Changing Tastes
I'm starting to realise that, as I grow older toward my thirties, many of my friends are growing older toward their forties. What this now means is that, more often than not, plans to go and get trashed at the weekend are thinning out and being replaced by more sedate pastimes.
I myself am in a limbo state in which I still moan that people don't want to go out partying, but then find that the alternative is quite pleasant. Furthermore, when I do go out and get wrecked I tend to awake the next morning thinking "Maybe dinner and film might have been better after all?" Old before my time maybe?
I have had a very nice fortnight, that said, witnessing the two extremes. One weekend spent with my best friend Angela, where the most strenuous thing we did was play frisbee in Richmond Park and this weekend spent drinking heavily on an urban beach in the Brick Lane area of London. Both were very enjoyable (despite my dislike for sand!)
Variety is, indeed, the spice of life.
