Over a year already. It's funny what a decent job can do for you. Before you know it your free time becomes very precious. Suffice to say that blogging over the last year was the furthest thing from my mind.
So I promised everyone updates on my life in March 2005 and I thought it about time I delivered. So here goes:
- Being 27 was mediocre at the best of times. I much prefer being 28, it's a more comfortable age.
- PK and I are in a strange place. Don't think either of us know exactly how we feel and yet there is something that binds us together. Had another split at New Year, but have come a long way since then together.
- The local pub turned out to be a very scary thing. After a euphorically happy period there everything went downhill rapidly. The landlady was evicted and came to stay with us for 4 months along with her daughter, a dog and a rabbit. This was a lot to add to a Victorian terraced house and the stress levels rose to extreme heights. I spent a lot of last Summer very unhappy with my home life. I felt isolated in a house full of very strong personalities and experienced a very nasty betrayal in the middle of it all. It's taken until the early part of this year to get over it all in my head. I smile a lot more now :o)
- The Team Manager role at work was an unmitigated disaster for me, although I exited it having shown that, when pressured, I can hold the team together and get the job done. My nightmare boss was fired in the July and the replacement was a very good friend of mine. Our working relationship has been fantastic and the department has gone from strength to strength since she has taken the reigns. It looks like I will be in with a shot for the permanent team manager role shortly, only this time I feel supported and ready to perform at my very best. The future at work seems very bright indeed.
- I have to say that I have only expanded my circle of friends slightly since last year, but I have to say the ones I have look after me very well and I try to do the same for them.
So yeah, life ain't so bad really. That said, I have just missed out on winning £50 from the World Cup sweepstake at work. France deserved more than they got, despite Zidane's violent actions. Still, you cannot complain about not having cash that you never had in the first place! I got £10 for coming second anyway.
I'll probably expand on some of the points above in time to come, but for now I'll sign off.
Sorry it's been so long!
